Volunteers

DeKalb Medical's Volunteer Program is a vital part of our organization. The contribution of time and caring made by our volunteers enables us to provide patients with an even higher level of care and attention. We have opportunities for adults, teenagers and college students alike throughout the healthcare system. Whether you're interested in health care or simply are looking for a rewarding experience, we think you'll find what you're looking for as a volunteer at one of our facilities.

How Do I Become a Volunteer?

  • Complete and send the online application.
  • The application process includes the volunteer office submitting a medical clearance form to your personal doctor. Consent for a general background check also is required.
  • Attend a general orientation session.
  • Coordinate with the Volunteer Services staff to choose a service area. Volunteers in all programs commit to a specific service area and shift.
  • Purchase a uniform from the Volunteeer Office.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Adult Auxilian

Rich in history and service opportunity, the Adult Auxiliary is DeKalb Medical's largest volunteer group. In addition to making a difference, volunteers also participate in social gatherings, recognition events and fundraising, with sales profits donated to DeKalb Medical to benefit patients and their families. Auxiliary members maintain 100 hours of volunteer service per year, averaging around nine hours per month.
