Decatur, Ga. – (August 11, 2010) Four DeKalb Medical employees were named recipients of the Audrey B. and Jack Morgan Scholarships. An annual program created specifically for employees of DeKalb Medical to continue their education and further their healthcare careers, this is the third year that scholarships have been awarded. Top winner, Maxine Rockhead, ASN, has been a nurse at DeKalb Medical for eight years and will use her award to earn a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She hopes to obtain a master’s degree in Nursing some day so she can become a Clinical Nurse Specialist. At the awards reception, Rockhead said, “Sometimes the only thing that holds you back is the fear of failing.”
First Runner-Up, Arabia Moore, a Patient Access Specialist, will use her scholarship to work toward a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Winners also include Tiffany Kellaway, Patient Care Tech and Keith Avant, Respiratory Care Manager.
A current DeKalb Medical Foundation board member and a former DeKalb Medical Board of Directors member, Audrey Morgan and her husband Jack have both dedicated their lives to improving their community. The Morgans believe a life of great purpose is possible for anybody who has work ethic, determination and energy.
