- A long-standing and solid reputation in cancer research, treatment and support services, with one of the largest cancer support systems in the nation and nearly 50 cancer studies in progress.
- The distinction of performing the first cancer-fighting stem cell transplant in Georgia.
- The first surgery center in Atlanta to be fully equipped with fixed video-surgery capabilities.
- Positron Emission Tomography (PET) technology, one of only a few hospitals in Georgia with PET/CT.
- Picture Archival and Communication System (PACS), allowing most diagnostic exams to be viewed by physicians via computer instead of the traditional X-ray film-based method.
- Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) so physicians can apply precise doses of radiation directly to specific disease sites in cancer patients.
- Cardiovascular Laboratory’s Axiom Artis FC Heart Lab, which produces high quality digital images with low doses of radiation.

From being the third largest birthing hospital in the state with more than 6,000 births each year to our Eberhart Cancer Center which is known for its unique and successful approach to cancer treatment, research and support, DeKalb Medical’s team-oriented approach means our patients are able to explore all options and make the care decision that is right for them.

Helping Care Partners Grow
DeKalb Medical is committed to helping our employees grow. We offer a variety of educational and professional development opportunities at all levels. Along with an extensive and comprehensive in-house continuing education program, tuition reimbursement, nursing loan repayment and scholarships help our Care Partners further their nursing and allied health education.
Our paid nurse residency programs allow growth, development and career advancement and a change in specialty. We offer all-inclusive residency programs for new nursing graduates, experienced nurses who want to specialize or change their specialty and nurses who have been away from the bedside and want to return to a hospital setting. Our comprehensive orientation program includes classroom and clinical time under the direction of a dedicated preceptor on the assigned unit.
The nurse extern program at DeKalb Medical gives rising junior and senior nursing students the opportunity to work while going to nursing school plus earn compensation credit for extern experience upon graduation from nursing school and passing NCLEX.
The DeKalb Medical School of Radiologic Technology offers a 24-month, 40-hour-per-week, full-time certification program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.
